If you are a Vietnamese: Money is everything to you, yet you have no sense of finance. You don’t trust anyone, including yourself. So that you lie to everyone, including yourself. You think everyone else is stupid but when it comes to making decision you always want somebody else to do it for you, and if nobody does, you think following the crowd is the safest bet. You don’t believe in God, (state) media is God to you. Modern medicine means side effect and bear bile cures all diseases. You enjoy complaining about everything, but Hochiminh is untouchable. You love your country, but you’d do everything for your children to get out of it.
And when you go to FB and take the inner nationality quiz, most of you become German

I don't quite agree. Are you a Vietnamese by these assumptions?
ReplyDeleteWhat exactly you don't agree with :P.
ReplyDeleteIn addition. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou make 3 million Vietnamese dong per month but you definitely know somebody who has billions Vietnamese dong.
Sure I love my country while trying my best for my children to leave it, even me if possible
ReplyDeleteAgree with some points. Ironic.
ReplyDeleteNo problem. I saw "In Bruges" on HBO yesterday: Vietnamese mean Asian. Great translation! :))
ReplyDeletein addition, you disagree without knowing what you exactly you disagree with
ReplyDeleteLOL at the last point. sharp and accurate observation hahaha.
ReplyDeletenhững điều trên đúng với lãnh đạo VN nhiều hơn là với dân đen
ReplyDeletehì hì, is this sarcastic or just ironic? Anyway, that's the way most of Vietnameses are ^^
ReplyDeleteTo elaborate, I agree with the 2nd last point: "You love your country, but you’d do everything for your children to get out of it".
ReplyDeleteFor the rest, I see no applicability.
Sarcasm or Irony, it's up to one's view & identity.
hmm never like stereotype much :) End up being Svensk though haha kinda true I suppose

I think everybody is basically good and has some weaknesses, all nations alike, Vietnamese, American, German, Spanish, Mexican, Chinese, South African. You name it.
It is a shame, instead of bringing out the good and great things out of a person,a country, the author tries to exploit the weak parts of some persons (not all) to hit the news.
Cheers,
Hien
